Now that you have the basic equipment for a day of fishing with your kids lets talk about teaching them how to fish.

Fist and most important you want to make it fun. Your not caching fish every time you cast the pole so kids can easily get distracted. This is why I suggest fishing from the shore and trying two types of fishing throughout the day. The two types of fishing are lure fishing and bobber fishing.

Lure fishing is were you cast and reel in every time. This is a great way to teach your kids the skill of casting.

bobber fishing is were you attach a bread, worm or other live bait to a hook and then a boober a few feet from the hook. This can be great for a kids fist day fishing because you cast it out and let it sit for an hour giving everyone time to enjoy the beach. Then when you see the boober bouncing in the water you know you have a fish and the excitement of reeling it in will memorize your kids.
